Prof. Goran Petrovski hopes to make eye health checkup much easier. “Imagine if you could get an eye examination as easily as you buy a soda from a vending machine”, says Prof. Petrovski. “You can place your eye on a camera, and a picture will be taken. The image should then be able to tell you a lot about both your eye health and your overall health. When you previously had to take a visual field test, for example, for a driver’s licence or glaucoma, it took 20-30 minutes, but with this device, BulbiCAM, it takes from 1.5 to 3 minutes. I envision that equipment like this will be in a general or ophthalmology practitioner’s office or optic shops in the future. This is innovation that is already benefiting eye health” he says.
